Roman Marble Portrait of a Woman

An ancient Roman marble portrait head of a Patrician woman with an elaborate coiffure of tiers of curled locks bound by braids in the back. Her expression is calm and dignified with wide set eyes, arching eyebrows and slight smile. She likely represents a daughter of an emperor of the Severan Dynasty.

Ca. 190 – 225 AD.
