Roman Marble Portrait Head of a Man

An ancient Roman marble life-size portrait bust of a young patrician man with fine features, a pronounced forehead and long nose. The portrait is similar to those of Drusus Minor, son of the emperor Tiberius, it may represent a contemporary member of the Julio-Claudian family.

Julio-Claudian Period.

Ca. 35 – 40 AD.

Height: 14 3/4 in. (37.5 cm).

Formerly in a New York private collection acquired in 1990, previously in an English private collection.
