An ancient Attic Greek red-figure lekythos with a nude dancing satyr, a cornucopia in the field before him.

Athens, Attica.

Ca. 470 – 440 BC.

Height: 4 3/4 in. (12 cm).

The lekythos was used to hold olive oil in antiquity and was often left as a grave offering.

Formerly in a New York private collection; formerly in the Dr. W. Staufen collection, Heidelberg, Germany, acquired in 1973.
