A pair of ancient Greek bronze ankle guards of anatomical form contoured to the back of the ankle, protecting the length of the Achilles tendon.

Ca. 6th - 5th century BC.
Height: 10 in. (26 cm).

Greaves and ankle guards were designed to conform to and protect the lower legs in battle.
