Attic Greek White-Ground Lekythos
An ancient Attic Greek white-ground lekythos with a black lattice pattern on the body with dots inthe diamond shaped negative space, a meander at the shoulder. Athens, Attica. Ca. 500 - 450 BC. Height: 4 7/8 in. (12.3 cm). The lekythos was used to hold olive oil in antiquity and was often left as a grave offering. cf.: D. C.
