Egyptian Anhydrite Fish Vessel
An ancient Egyptian anhydrite cosmetic vessel in the form of a tilapia fish with gaping mouth and inlaid eyes. Second Intermediate Period. 15th - 17th Dynasty, ca. 1630 - 1539 BC. Length: 2 1/2 in. (6 cm). Formerly in a Brussels, Belgium private collection, prior to 1983; subsequently in a New York private collection.
