An ancient Egyptian reed basket woven in the shape of a boat.

Middle Kingdom.
Ca. 2055 - 1650 BC.
Length: 7 in. (17.8 cm).

Cf. British Museum, inv. no. EA5396, an oval reed basket containing figs and dates.

Formerly in a Connecticut private collection, acquired in New York in 1970; said to have been sold by the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York in the late 1950s.
