Roman Bronze Statuette of Jupiter
An ancient Roman bronze statuette of Jupiter (Zeus). The god stands nude except for a drapery over his left shoulder with his weight on his right leg. On his head rests a crown, in his right hand he holds a thunderbolt, his left hand once held his scepter. Ca. 1st - 2nd century AD. Height: 3 1/4 in. (8.3 cm). Formerly in a South German private collection, acquired in the 1970's.
