An ancient clay tablet inscribed with nine lines of Sumerian cuneiform script recording the receipt of thirty sheep. IIIrd Dynasty of Ur, Ca. 2200 - 2000 BC. Height:1 1/2 in. (3.8 cm). Translation: front: 30 sheep (which) Abiltal (acting for) Abba-Shaqqa has received from Dugirrura back: month of Akiti, the year when (the cities of) Urbillunnu and Ki-Mash-Ki were overthrown. Previously in a Chicago private collection; acquired at auction in Boston from an early 20th century collection
