Attic Greek Black-Figure Lekythos

An ancient Athenian black-figure lekythos of slender form with a scene of four musicians, the central figure plays a large white lyre in front of a reclining figure.

Athens, Attica.
Ca. 525 - 500 BC.
Height: 6 1/8 in. (15.8 cm).
Intact.

The lekythos was used to hold olive oil in antiquity and was often left as a grave offering.

Formerly in a New Jersey private collection, with a label dated 3/20/68.
