Egyptian Bronze Sphinx
An ancient Egyptian bronze Sphinx, reclining with tail tucked below the body, on an integral rectangular plinth, wearing a broad collar and a nemes-head cloth fronted by a uraeus. Roman Period, Ca. 1st - 2nd century AD. Length: 2 1/8 in. (5.4 cm). Formerly in a New England private collection; inherited from a collection formed in New York prior to 1980.
