An ancient Roman marble life-size portrait head of a man, turned slightly to his left, with indented pupils, a stippled beard, and hair rendered in thick locks falling over his forehead and temples.

Ca. Late 3rd century AD or earlier.
Height: 10 1/2 in. (26.7 cm).

Formerly in Anavian Gallery, New York, 1977; acquired by Sotheby's, New York, December 12, 2013, lot 82; subsequently, J.D. private collection, New York.
