Minted in Rome ca. 37-38 AD.

Gaius was the youngest son of the immensely popular Germanicus. Gaius (Caligula) succeeded Tiberius who had adopted him at Capri. Caligula at first well received proved to be a disturbed and brutal megalomaniac and was soon murdered.
