Egyptian Faience Uraeus Amulet
An ancient Egyptian dark blue faience uraeus amulet with a suspension loop.
Late Period, Ca. 700-30 BC.
The Uraeus, a rearing cobra, was used as a symbol of sovereignty, royalty, divinity in ancient Egypt. It was often placed on the front of crowns worn by the Pharaoh and various gods and goddesses.
Formerly in an American private collection.
