An ancient Egyptian light brown quartzite head of a man, with thick cosmetic lines on the eyes and brows, the nose with pronounced nostrils, the lips drilled at the corners and with curls indicated in the hair at the sides of the face.

Middle Kingdom, Dynasty XII,
1991-1783 BC.
Height: 3 1/2 in. (9 cm).

Formerly in the collection of Esther Slater Kerrigan; sold at Parke Bernet Galleries, New York: Kerrigan Sale, January 8th, 1942, lot 385; subsequently, J. Brummer collection #5280; with James Robinson; New York private collection, 1959 - 2004; Rhode Island private collection.
