An ancient Roman pottery oil lamp with an image of a bounding stag in the center discus.

Ca. late 1st century AD.
Length: 3 3/4 in. (9.4 cm).

A full lamp of this type would burn for two or three hours

Formerly in the Toledo Museum of Art, accession no. 1908.29; purchased from Professor George N. Olcott, New York, (Olcott no. 29), in 1908.
