Egyptian Faience Monkey Amulet

An ancient Egyptian faience amulet in the form of a seated Vervet monkey on an integral base, his hands raised to cover his mouth.

Late Period.
Ca. 700 - 30 BC.
Height: 1 1/8 in (2.8 cm).

The ancient Egyptian often kept the Vervet monkey as a pet. It was associated with fertility and sexuality.
