Boeotian Black Figure Lekanis

An ancient Boeotian Greek black figure lekanis the interior tondo painted with the figure of a bearded man, cloaked in a long himation, striding to the right and bearing a long spear. The exterior decorated with a chain of lotus buds. Ancient drill holes indicate areas of ancient wired repair.

Boeotia, Greece.
Ca. 550-530 BC.
Width: 13 1/2 in. (34.5 cm).

Formerly in the collection of Professor W. Kendrick Pritchett, Department of Classics, University of California, Berkeley, acquired between 1936 and 1960.
