Mars advancing right holding transverse spear and trophy over shoulder.

Struck 218-219 AD.

Elagabalus was born in Emesa, Syria. He was a priest of the sun god Baal. His extreme devotion to the god and his unpopular marriage to a Vestal Virgin insured his assassination, planned by his grandmother, Julia Maesa, he was 17.
