Urartian Bronze Pin
A finely made ancient Urartian bronze cloak pin. Late 8th - early 7th century BC. Length: 3 1/2 in. (8.9 cm). Intact. Urartu was an Iron Age civilization in Eastern Anatolia, which rose to power in the 9th century BC, and was conquered by the Medes in the early 6th century BC. They are known for their high quality metal work. Formerly in a German private collection, acquired during the 1960s and 1970s.
