Struck 196 AD.

Caracalla (so named after the Germanic cloak he preferred to wear) was born Septimius Bassianus in 188 at Lugdunum. He and his brother Geta were the sons of Septimius Severus. He was seen as a cruel militaristic ruler and was murdered by his troops while on campaign in Parthia.
